Gabriela was born in Barcelona, studied design at the Graduate School of Design and Fashion in Madrid.
As well as designing the costumes for many opera productions, including Rigoletto, Zaide, Così fan tutte, La Favorita, Die Entfürung aus dem Serail, Elektra, Noye’s Fludde, La fille du régiment, Maria Stuarda, Lord Byron, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Norma, Die Zauberflöte, La Traviata and Andrea Chénier, Gabriela Salaverri has also designed the costumes for musicals like L’homme de la Mancha, My fair Lady ,The Sound of Music, as well as for many zarzuelas and theater plays in the main Spanish theaters.
She also designed the costumes for the movie Savage Grace directed by Tom Kalin, with Julianne Moore and Eddie Redmayne.
She recently designed the costumes for La bohème at the Jyske Opera in Danmark. Current projects: A funny thing happened on the way to the forun by Stephen Sondheim, El corregidor y la molinera by Manuel de Falla, El sapo enamorado by Pablo Luna and Brundibar at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
